This painting was done in an afternoon and is quite large. Filling the space up was more challenging than you might think. More of an expressionist painting than a realistic depiction of the landscape, this painting was done in one sitting and mostly from memory, although it was loosely based on a photo I had take on the ferry going to Victoria.
The piece is done from the perspective of standing on the back of the boat, with an unobstructed view of where we have been. I often like to stand there and let the cool breeze blow over me, and take in the sweet ocean air. There really is nothing like it in the world.
